On this date in 1976, The Band played its last concert as an original quintet. Now famously known as "The Last Waltz" (original concert poster pictured above), the show took place at Bill Graham's Winterland Ballroom, an old ice skating rink located in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood. Immortalized in the Martin Scorsese documentary, The Band was joined by a Who's Who of the music world at the time.
